Service Overview
Parish Ministry Formation:
Parish Internship Program participants (interns) will take part in the Parish Ministry formation program.
Volunteer Service Period and Requirements:
• Each Intern is to begin the volunteer service from 2nd August 2009 in a
parish based ministry.
• The Volunteer Service Period finishes on 31st August 2011.
• Each Intern will commit to 400 hours of volunteer service during the two year
period (that is, the full service period).
• Each Intern will be responsible for maintaining an Internship Log Book to be
signed weekly by the Parish based supervisor. The Internship Log Book will be
submitted to the nominated person from the Parish Support Unit on a six monthly
basis for review and the updating of Diocesan records.
• Failure to serve the full service period will result in withdrawal from the
Parish Internship Program without remuneration or compensation in any form.
Pilgrimage to WYD 2011 Madrid Spain:
• Each Intern should be available to travel on pilgrimage with the Diocese in
August 2011.
• Each intern who completes their Volunteer Service Period will have their
travel and accommodation costs covered by the Diocese of Broken Bay for the
period of the pilgrimage.
Parish commitment:
The Parish Internship Program is supported by Bishop David Walker. Each intern will serve within a Parish located in the Diocese. Each intern should seek permission from the Parish Priest before undertaking the Volunteer Service Period.
Acceptance of applications is conditional on the endorsement of the Parish Priest
