ABC’s for Youth Ministry Ideas/Initiatives

 I was in the car with a group of young adults from Tasmania . On the way to our  meeting we came up with a youth ministry activity for every letter of the alphabet. We tried to encourage thinking of both gathered and non gathered activities. (what are they?)

B – beach party, bazaar, bulletin board

C – Comprehensive, Chatroom (mlrc, msn), Creative workshop

D – Diocesan Youth Festival, Dialogue nites

E -  Eucharistic Ministers, Ecumenism, E-bulletin (why we do the things we do eg parish bulletin info re: particular traditions, etc)

F – Food fair

G – Giving Tree, GIG (Getting Involved Globally), Gorilla Grannies (Meeting the Oldies)

H – Home (help) visits, home youth groups/Masses, Hospitality ministry

I – Internet Café, Info-processing workshop (reverse mentoring)

J – Jamborees, Jumping Castle, Joint parish projects (eg, painting, homeless outreach), Job Network (parish noticeboard – help with resumes, mock interviews)

K- Kayaking, Kite-flying, Karaoke

L- lock-ins, Lock-outs (visiting other primary schools, orienteering), Liturgy, LAN parties

M – Mass, Music in the Moonlight Mystery Tour (progressive dinner)

N – Night Prayer, Nuke protesting, welcoming Newcomers

O- Office-painting, Opening Up, Orienteering

P – Pastoral Care, praise ’n’ worship, pasta nights, prayer trees, cards, companions, Pilgrimage

Q - Quiet time, Question and Answering,
